Blowing Bubbles

It seems like everyday Keaton learns something new. Today when I picked her up, Maria said that she was kicking her feet and moving her arms all day. She also said that she started blowing bubbles with her mouth and cracking up at herself when she did it. It wasn't until I got home that I realized what she was talking about. For 3 hours straight, Keaton made zerbert sounds with her mouth and rumbled her lips and blew bubbles all while laughing at herself each time she did it. It was hysterical. She was even doing it during her last feeding of the night, which ended up very unsuccessful, because she could not concentrate on eating. She thought she was so funny. I'm sure it will be something new tomorrow. She is really developing quite the personality and she is loving life and happy all the time!

So Many Firsts

Everything seems to be happening SO fast. In just the past week, both of Keaton's bottom two teeth have broke through the surface, almost all of her hair has fallen out, and now when you lie her down on her back, she immediately rolls over to her belly. She also sleeps the enter night on her belly (still 12 hours!) We were afraid the whole teething thing would be a nightmare, but Keaton doesn't really seem to mind. She does this adorable sucking in and out with her mouth and she is constantly sucking on her fingers. But, no fever, crying, etc. so I guess things are going good. She recently started going on jogs, still in her infant seat, with dad, and is really enjoying the nice weather and getting the stare at her handsome daddy while he runs even though she falls asleep right away. We are getting more and more belly laughs each day too. Keaton's eyes have changed from bright blue to brown and now they are green, so who knows what color they will actually be. She is still gaining weight and growing well and we still have to add rice cereal to her bottles during the day to try to keep her food down. We end up with a lot of projectile vomit on us every day. Just this morning, I was walking her downstairs to put her in her carseat and she let out this huge burp and puked all over me and all down the stairs. I had to quickly change before going to work and could smell spit up on me all day (which I actually enjoyed which is kind of gross). It's also a bit embarrassing when someone asks to hold her, we have to say to beware of spit up. We are still absolutely loving Maria. She takes such good care of Keaton and loves on her all day.

Home Alone!

Keaton and Mom are spending the weekend home alone while Nathan goes snowboarding in Colorado. We figured he could use a little vacation for all the great "daddy" work he does. KLove and I went to the doctor today for a weight check, and she put on one whole pound in only 2 weeks! Yeah!!! No more weight checks until her 6 month appointment. She is now 12 pounds 8 ounces. Still a skinny little thing, but moving on up. She absolutely loves being with Maria during the day, and it is a wonderful balance for all of us, and so nice to know that she is in such loving hands during the day. The kiddos spent 2 of the days this week at our house and Pierce came over here. So, Nathan and I had to baby proof our whole house a little earlier than expected, but now it is done. Keaton and I are going to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!

Adiós Daycare!!!

Keaton is officially out of daycare! Today, we started nanny sharing with our friends Katie and Bryan and their fabulous nanny, Maria. Maria is perfect for Keaton... she loves on her and holds her and we couldn't be happier. Her buddy Pierce had quite the opposite day, having to share his Maria for the first time was quite an eye opener, but hopefully that will only last a short time before they are playing together. We also had a HUGE accomplishment today... Keaton rolled over... TWICE in a row! So when we got home today, she was in such a great mood that I figured it would be a great time for tummy time. She immediately pushed herself up and rolled herself over to her back. I said I wasn't going to put it in the baby book unless she did it again, and she did right away! She said she is FREE of the bouncy seat at daycare and she is amazed at the way she can move! She is also in love with her voice... or should we say scream. I'm not sure if this is "normal" or not, but she has a scream for a coo now. And she LOVES to listen to it!

I have found my mouth and I want everything in it!

So, I guess I can pretty much kiss goodbye any annoyances I have about germs and things being really clean. Keaton is putting everything she can get a hold of in her mouth. She shakes her head really fast as she attacks everything! I'm not sure if this means she is getting teeth... I really hope not yet. We had a doctors appointment the other day and KLove is not gaining as much weight as she should be??? She only gained 8 ounces in 6 weeks. And currently she is only 10 pounds 8 ounces. She spits up SOOOOOO much. After she eats, she lets out a few good burps and then she just pours milk out of her mouth. It falls down all the stairs in our house and it is all over our wood floors. Every shirt, and pair of pants, and shoes I have, have spit up all over them. And not just a little, I'm talking like projectile out of her. But, she is happy when it is happening? The other day, I fed her in the Nordstroms women's lounge and then walked around the children's section while we waited for Nathan to meet us for lunch. I thought I was going to have to buy half the clothes there because she just kept puking all over everything. It was really embarrassing. However, the entire time she was cooing and screaming and laughing, so I have no idea what this means. We started supplementing her 12:30 pm feeding with formula in hopes that she would gain a little weight and to also take some strain off of me from having to pump so much while at work. I thought maybe the formula would help with the spitting up, but rather it is just a different, thicker, smellier type of spit up. The doctor has us going back in 2 more weeks for another weight check. She is definitely growing in length though because most outfits that have the feet in them do not fit her... she can't straighten her legs.

Christmas in Texas

We spent a wonderful week with Aunt Kim & Uncle Keith and cousins Kyle, Caden and Quin. They came to visit us from North Carolina and to spend time with their new cousin Keaton. During the week, Keaton was also baptized at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The boys got to go on a motorcycle ride with Uncle Nate and also got to go to a Mavericks game. It was great having the house full, especially with very active boys. Keaton also got to spend a few weeks home with mom and out of daycare. We spent time reading books, listening to music, going on picnics, playing in the exersaucer, aquarium floor mat, and doing lots of tummy time. She is cooing and screaming and really likes the sound of her voice. She is starting to put things in her mouth, especially her hands. She has always spit up, but it is starting to get really bad... projectile vomiting!

Thanksgiving in Florida

Keaton flew on her first airplane ride (not counting the many she had in utero). We were a bit nervous being trapped 30,000 miles in the air and possibly not being able to calm her down. All our worries were for nothing... she was perfect and slept the entire trip. On the day of our flight, she hadn't pooped in 5 days (which her dr. did say is normal for breastfed babies) and I was so afraid that she was going to have this mass explosion on the airplane. On the ride to my parents house, I could hear a party going on in her diaper. When we got to their house, she was neck high (literally) in poop. Kim kept the boys up extra late to meet her and their first impression of their new cousin was one sure to remember. We had such a wonderful trip with my family. Keaton smiled and cooed all weekend and absolutely loved being held by her Aunt Kim and Nana. Keaton loves to suck on her hands and she spits up all day long. I call her our human faucet. She always does it with a smile on though. 5 days out of 7 she is sleeping from 8:00 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. I know I should be happy about this, but now that I am back at work, I kind of wish she would wake up at 3 a.m. every night just so I can spend an extra 30 minutes alone with her. Her daycare days are going okay... of course I wish I could be with her all day, but just two more weeks of work and I have three weeks off to be with her. We are eagerly waiting for Kim, Keith and the boys to come out and spend Christmas with us.
