Pumpkin Patch

Mucho Hablar!!! Ma Ma... Da Da... Baby... Ba Ba... Binky... Bye Bye... Night Night... Barley... Good Girl... Aqua... UH OH!... Love You... Beso... Book... Pierce...

She is also constantly clapping for herself, dancing (volar?), putting up her clothes in the hamper, when we sigh, she sighs too with the cutest smile on her face like she knows exactly what she is doing. She loves her baby dolls and loves to hold and kiss them. At bedtime she says "book, book" constantly and wants you to read every book to her. She will sit in your lap and look at each page while you read all the way to the end. She loves books!!! She also loves to feed Barley the foods she doesn't like or isn't in the mood for. She gives it to him straight from her hand. She is also very into hitting him on the head and saying "no, no, no or stop Barley." Her walk has now turned into a run. Recently we took her to the Arboretum to see the pumpkin patch and she loved chasing the crows in the lawn. She has become very independent. When you give her something or want her to do something she will resist, but then turn around and do it herself right away, as if it were her idea. The other day she wanted to go out the front door, but it was raining outside. She had her purse in one hand, her sippy cup in the other, headed for the door and threw herself on the floor in a tantrum when I would not open it up for her. OH MY! We are so in love with her!!!

We have a litte parrot

Keaton is cracking us up these days. We call her our little parrot because she is repeating everything, and I mean everything we say. She constantly says UH OH, and apparently I must have said "Good Girl" A ALOT because everytime she puts a toy inside of something, or stacks something correctly or does anything that we would be proud of she says "Good Girl" to herself and gets the cutest smile on her face like she just did something great. Another adorable thing she does, is she got a gift for her birthday that when you don't play it for a while it turns of on its own and it says "see you later." Everytime it says that Keatons says "bye bye" as if she know exactly what see you later means... really weird because neither Nathan or I really say those words so how would she put the two together and she only speaks/hears Spanish during the day...? We are amazed every day by how much she is learning and developing!

KEATON TURNS 1!!!!!!!

Keaton's birthday could not have been better. Her actual birthday was last Wednesday and mom and dad just cooked dinner at the house and let Keaton open up some toys and eat a fabulous Society Bakery cupcake. The next day we had her one year checkup and shots, and boy, there were a lot of shots! It was not fun that she realized what was happening and that she was looking at me as if I was causing her all of this misery. She was a whopping 20.5 lbs, 28 inches long and has a rather large head...85%. It will all even out I'm sure! After our very long appointment we took her out for sushi and she loved it... especially the edamame! We had her birthday party on Saturday and were blessed that so many of our friends and family could be a part of it. Nana and Pop Pop got us a photographer to capture all the wonderful moments and it also let mom and dad relax and enjoy the party. So, there will be lots of pictures to come soon from the party. Now that we have a one year old, there are a few changes we are trying, for example switching from formula to whole milk which seems to be working well and switching from bottles to sippy cups that's lets just say is NOT working. The girl loves the nipple on the bottle and she knows what she wants and when she wants it. We tried for a week to gradually switch out just one feeding with a sippy cup and that seemed like it was going to be a very long drawn out process of fussiness so, we decided to just go cold turkey and no more bottles... well, that lasted about 36 hours before the temper tantrums started to consist of Keaton throwing her body on the floor, sreaming, throwing the sippy cup at me. You would think that she would be starving and would just drink from the sippy cup...nope. She actually stopped eating all together so we finally gave in and gave her the bottle. All I could think was thank goodness this is a bottle and not my boob... that would be really bad!

Labor Day in Florida

Keaton has just turned 11 months and mommy is back at work. We are busy, busy, busy! We are continuing swim lessons on Monday afternoons and we joined Little Gym on Thursdays. Keaton loves her activities and she loves playing and meeting other little babies her age. She is all over the place and I think sometimes she thinks she can run, but she is still really pigeon toed and it is hysterial. She is starting to say a lot of words in addition to her two favorites, mama and dada she says agua, Barley, baba, Pierce, book, and baby. She loves hugging mom really hard in the mornings and right before bed and she also loves to snuggle up in your lap and listen to you read books as she babbles along with you. For Labor Day we headed down to Palm Beach to visit our friends Amie and Jack and their 6 month old baby Jack. We had a great time with the kids and then headed up to Sarasota to see Nana and Pop Pop and all the Covington's drove down to visit with us too! We played and played on the beach and then played some more over at the McDonoughs house. Next week Keaton will be ONE! I can not believe it is already here and every day I feel so blessed to have her in our lives.
