Labor Day in Florida

Keaton has just turned 11 months and mommy is back at work. We are busy, busy, busy! We are continuing swim lessons on Monday afternoons and we joined Little Gym on Thursdays. Keaton loves her activities and she loves playing and meeting other little babies her age. She is all over the place and I think sometimes she thinks she can run, but she is still really pigeon toed and it is hysterial. She is starting to say a lot of words in addition to her two favorites, mama and dada she says agua, Barley, baba, Pierce, book, and baby. She loves hugging mom really hard in the mornings and right before bed and she also loves to snuggle up in your lap and listen to you read books as she babbles along with you. For Labor Day we headed down to Palm Beach to visit our friends Amie and Jack and their 6 month old baby Jack. We had a great time with the kids and then headed up to Sarasota to see Nana and Pop Pop and all the Covington's drove down to visit with us too! We played and played on the beach and then played some more over at the McDonoughs house. Next week Keaton will be ONE! I can not believe it is already here and every day I feel so blessed to have her in our lives.

CABO

CABO

Hola Mexico!

We had the most amazing vacation in Cabo, Mexico this past week. We stayed at the Cabo Surf Hotel so Nathan could have easy access to the best surf break in Cabo. The hotel was beautiful and easy for Keaton's naps, meals, pool time, and everything else you need on a beach vacation. Keaton would wake up around 7:30 and we would head down to the pool then have breakfast. Nathan had already had an early morning surf session so he would join us before Keaton went down for her morning nap. She took great naps in the morning while mom got the lay out by the pool or relax on the beach and read. Then she would wake up, we would hang out together and Nathan would do some more surfing before lunch. It didn't take long... maybe two hours before Keaton was tired again and would take another 2 hour nap. Nathan got really good at taking naps with her in the room while I got some alone time and finally a tan. Keaton loved playing in the sand and feeling the ocean water on her feet. She also loved hanging out in the pool and taking a bath in our outdoor bathtub. Thank goodness for the outdoor bathtub because inside we only had showers and we haven't introduced her to that yet. Dinner time was a little inconsistant... Keaton was VERY tired by the time we wanted to go downstairs for dinner and we either had to wait for her to be completely asleep and take her in her infant carseat or we would take her and we would take turns on who sat at the dinner table while the other one played with her in the lounge area. The great thing was that she went to everyone. Waitstaff, other guests in the hotel, she would either reach her hands out for them to hold her or she would crawl to them. It was great! A few times I said I think I need a vacation from our vacation... and I now take that back... it is just "different" vacationing with a baby then it used to be. There is this whole new responsibilty thing that kind of keeps you from completely relaxing. We wouldn't have had as great of a time without her though... She is such a joy and so darn happy all the time!

Does that shoe come in any other color?

Well, after about a week of one step here and 3 or 4 here, we got 10 full steps in a row this morning... mouth wide open and arms shaking the whole time! We officially have a walker! After swim lessons this morning Keaton and I grabbed a quick bite at La Madeline where she waved to everyone walking by and flirted with a grandfatherly looking man at the table next to us. Of course he struck up a conversation with me and he couldn't believe what a personality she had for a 10 1/2 month old. Keaton kept cocking her head to the side and expecting the man to do the same, eventually he copied her and the two were belly laughing with each other. It was very sweet. After lunch we walked over to Stride Rite to get fitted for Keaton's first pair of walking shoes. The store looked overwhelming, but really there were only 3 to choose from. Keaton loved trying them on, but when it came to standing and trying to take a step with them on, she looked down at them and wondered what in the world were on her feet. Later in the day, shoes still on, we headed over to the Jones's house to meet their new addition Wrigley. Keaton and puppy Wrigley are about the same size and they like to do the same things too... chase balls, eat bones, and snuggle with stuffed animals. It was a great playdate! After leaving their house, mommy was craving sushi, so we stopped at Teppo for a quick bite to eat. It was a great day that ended with lots of packing for our trip tomorrow... CABO here we come!
