This past weekend we went to Kentucky for a family wedding. Keaton was her usual pleasant, easy self, but we also saw a side of her that we had not seen yet... she is a partier! The girl could go all day without a nap and then stay up until 11ish at night dancing and hanging out! She was such a trooper and we had so much fun with her. We got to visit with all of the Tormey side of the family and hang out with Uncle Buddy. She would even sleep in for us which was great! She really wants to walk to try to keep up with her cousins, but she is still just cruising holding on to things. We did have a little not so good experience... when I first got there Keaton got a bite on her foot. Within 24 hours it swelled up, got hot and tender to the touch and had a red line going up her foot that was getting worse by the hour. So... 24 hours after the bite, Kim, Ashly and I headed to a Urgent Care where we found out that Keaton had an infection from the bite and had to go on antibiotics. Within a day, the swelling went down and we could see the bite which looked like it was from an ant... only in Kentucky! I did learn one thing from that experience - benedryl has the reverse effects on Keaton and it makes her hyper, happy and screaming with excitement!

MOM & DAD go to NYC!!!

Well, we officially left Keaton for the first time. Nathan and I flew to NY for a night in the city followed by a friends wedding up in the mountains. I thought it would be a lot harder than it was, but it was actually kind of nice to not have such a huge responsibility 24/7. That was until about 24 hours after we arrived and all of a sudden Nathan and I missed her so much that we decided to fly home earlier on Sunday to see her. It was Father's Day too! Nana from Florida came in to stay with Keaton for the weekend and she was of course great. Nana even taught Keaton how to clap, although only one hand is really moving in her clap right now, she knows exactly what she is doing. One big mistake on mom's part... I forgot to write down her night time bottle on her schedule and she went two nights with no bottle... it didn't even phase her! Nana took her outside for a little dip in the pool to cool off from the 100 degree weather.

9 month swimmer

Keaton is 9 months old today and is 19.6 pounds and 28 inches long. She is doing everything developmentally right that she should be doing and is ready to start walking on her own any day now. Keaton and I started a 10 week session swim class last week and it was a huge hit. I thought she might not like it because lately bathtime has been a little hectic and loud (possibly due to her ear infection she is getting over)but she absolutely loved it. We had our second class today and Keaton held her breath for one second under water several times. And she splashed and kicked her feet the whole class too! Each week we add a second under the water until we get to 10... I think it is harder for mom!

8 months already! So busy no time for blogging!

8 months old and lots of changes!!! Keaton quickly discovered how to sit up in her crib and then of course pull herself up to standing. Now when we walk in her room, she is standing there waving to us... she loves to wave! She has eaten almost all the wood off the inside of her crib which is pretty incredible since she still only has her bottom two teeth from when she was 4 months old... what a little chipmunk. She is crawling all over the place and even attempts to crawl up the stairs. She is cruising around the edge of her crib as well as around the coffee table and couches and she loves to hang and swing from the baby gates in the house. She discovered Barley's food bowl and loves to play in it, so unfortunatley for Barley it spends most of the time up on the counter. We had another ear infection this month (2 total now). She loves to play with her ears so how am I suppose to know if her ear is infected? So we are on 10 days of antiobiotics. We attempted to take Keaton the the lake and she screamed bloody murder the entire time she had her life jacket on. Is was a very stressful day and she won the battle. We docked the boat, took her life jacket off and let her play on the floor of the boat. Next time we head out to the lake I think we will get Maria to watch Keaton. Maria also taught Keaton to do an Indian sound with her mouth which is so adorable. She is developing such a cute personality and is very sweet and still such as easy baby! Next week we go to the doctor for her 9 month appt...

Happy Mother's Day

What a great day! I got to sleep in this morning while Nathan took Keaton on a jog and then to the grocery store. Then he cooked me a wonderful, BIG breakfast. We then went to bowl... Ha! Yes, I still have it. I beat Nathan twice! After that, we went to the arboretum to listen to jazz music and to enjoy some sunshine. Then we picked up Nathan's grandmother and took her out to Shells for dinner. Long day, great day...
Keaton is growing so much everyday. She loves to do the zerbert sound with her mouth and to click her tongue. She can pull herself up to standing, but she can't get from lying to sitting yet. She still loves to be in the standing position, but is still not too fond of the crawling postion. She is always in a good mood. Even last night when we arrived at a friend's house... we heard her grunting away in the backseat of the car, which was then followed by a fowl smell. We knew it would be bad, but we had never seen this before. When we opened the back door to the car Keaton had poop all over herself. It was on her arms and on her cheek and ALL over her carseat. I had never seen anything like it and so quickly all over her. Thanks to the fast work of Julie, we quickly stripped her down outside and cleaned her up. Not a single peep out of her the whole time, just as content as can be...
